Location & Getting Around

Here’s what I love about staying here — you’re right on Jiefangbei Avenue in Yu Zhong district, which means you’re basically in the heart of everything. The couples who stay here aren’t wrong when they rave about the location (they’ve rated it 9.0, and honestly, I get it). You can walk to Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street in about ten minutes, and there’s this great hotpot place just two blocks away that locals actually go to. The parking situation is surprisingly good for this area — they’ve got spots on site, which is a real win when you’re dealing with Chongqing’s crazy traffic.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in was clean and functional — think modern Chinese guesthouse rather than international hotel chain. The beds are firm (which seems to be the standard here), and the air conditioning actually works well, which you’ll appreciate during those humid summer months. What really makes it worthwhile is waking up to those lake views — there’s something about seeing the water and the city skyline that makes the three-star rating feel like better value than it probably should.

Practical Considerations

You know what surprised me? The staff here actually speak decent English, which isn’t always a given at guesthouses in this price range. The building itself is modern and well-maintained — not one of those older structures you sometimes worry about in rapidly developing areas. The elevators are reliable (important when you’re on the 17th floor), and there’s decent WiFi throughout. I mean, it’s not going to blow you away with amenities, but everything you need is there and it works.

  Clean great location but hard to find. Spacious room.
  
  What could be improved: No breakfast included and key card didn’t work coming in from the rain. I was cold and wet and wanted a hot shower. Took clerk a half hour to re program the card

  Hotel is in a great location. Very close to different attractions and metro station. The room has a good view of the river. Free laundry service. And staff was very nice and helpful.

  Location was perfect, just a few steps away from Hongyadong, which is a must visit, and also from several restaurants . The view from the apartment was stunning, the room was very convenient. The staff is very nice and helpful.
  
  What could be improved: The bathroom could have been better. Without proper shower everything gets wet, which is not pleasant and doesn’t feel clean.

  Clean room and comfortable bed with a good sized room. The front desk staff were very helpful and they have gone above and beyond.

  Great location and confortable room.
  
  What could be improved: Complicated lift situation. The hotel shares building with a other hotels, a hospital and other business, which means a lot of people using the lifts, making it hard to catch one.
  
  In our case the views were not too great. The only thing we could see is a building used as a parking lot (I guess this would be what it’s described as “city views”)
