David’s Deer Hotel Overview
First Impressions
Walking into David’s Deer Hotel on the seventh floor of a modern building in Yuzhong District, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from the name alone. But you know what? This four-star property surprised me in the best way. The lobby feels intimate rather than overwhelming, and there’s something refreshingly unpretentious about the whole setup. Located in Chongqing‘s bustling central district, it sits right in the thick of things without feeling chaotic.
The Location Advantage
Here’s what I really appreciated — the hotel’s position on Daping Street puts you within walking distance of some serious local action. The Time Paradise Walk complex downstairs means you’re never far from decent food or shopping, which is actually pretty handy when you’re dealing with jet lag or just don’t want to venture too far. I mean, Yuzhong District can be intense with all the hills and crowds, but being centrally located like this makes navigating the city so much easier. Recent guests have been raving about the location, and I get why — it’s one of those spots where you feel connected to the real Chongqing.
The Room Experience
My room was on the smaller side, but honestly, that’s pretty standard for central Chongqing real estate. What impressed me was how thoughtfully everything was laid out — nothing felt cramped or awkward. The windows offered decent city views (though don’t expect mountain vistas from here), and the bed was surprisingly comfortable for a mid-range property. The bathroom was clean and functional, with good water pressure — something you definitely don’t want to take for granted in this part of China.
Why Couples Choose This Place
I noticed quite a few couples during my stay, and it makes sense why they’re drawn here. There’s something about the hotel’s scale and atmosphere that feels more intimate than those massive chain properties you’ll find elsewhere in the district. The staff seems to get this too — service feels personal rather than corporate. Plus, being in Yuzhong District means you’re close to the romantic riverside areas and those famous Chongqing night views that couples love to Instagram.
Why Guests Love It
Look, David’s Deer Hotel isn’t trying to be the fanciest place in town, and that’s actually its strength. It delivers solid comfort in an excellent location without the premium price tag of other high-end hotels nearby. The fact that recent guests keep highlighting the location tells you something — when you’re exploring a city as sprawling and vertical as Chongqing, being centrally positioned is worth its weight in gold. It’s the kind of place where you’ll spend your time out exploring rather than hanging around the hotel, but you’ll appreciate having a comfortable, well-located base to return to.
Exploring Chongqing blends terraced neighborhoods, tunnel markets, and tea houses steaming through the fog.

Location was good and close to the metro station. Clean sheets.
What could be improved: Upon arriving the room was not clean. We have to call the stuff to clean it up.
Table ruined from hot cups, black signs on the floor from cigarettes, half fallen lamp in the bathroom.
Old furniture that should be replaced and much better maintained.
Breakfast poor, only chinese, yoghurt and toast without a toaster, no butter, … coffee better not to try.
Watermelon was the best part of the breakfast.
Stuff cannot speak English.
Noice from outside till midnight.
Hard to find, the hotel is on the 7.th floor.Lubos from Slovakia – 29 July 2024 (6/10)
Small hotel in center of the city, walking distance to metro line nr.1. Room and bathroom could have been cleaner.

The style of the hotel is modern however not so new as depicted in the photos. The location is great and strategic. Not distant from the centre and very close to a new shopping mall full of entertainments and activities to do
What could be improved: The first unpleasant surprise was at the moment of the check in. I had to pay a deposit equal to the whole sum of my stay. It made me disappointed since it was not mentioned before. Moreover the staff dont speak english creating even more confusion. The room was dirty: oily table, hairs, used bottles and dirty floor. We asked about changing everything and cleaning which somehow fixed it. However the rooms are very used and not so neat and clean as depicted in picture. The breakfast is ok not particularly good especially coffee.Jun from United States – 14 July 2024 (5/10)
What could be improved: Hello,
I have checked into the hotel I booked through your platform. However, upon arrival, the hotel front desk informed me that the upgraded room type advertised online does not exist. The hotel only has one type of room, but on your website, the original room price was 273.60 RMB, and I upgraded to a room priced at 305.10 RMB due to the promotion. Since the hotel confirmed they do not have such an upgraded room, please refund me the additional amount charged.
