Hilton Chongqing Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Hilton Chongqing honestly feels like stepping into a different world — and I mean that in the best way possible. This five-star property sits right in the heart of Yu Zhong district, and you know what strikes you first? The sheer scale of the lobby, with those floor-to-ceiling windows offering glimpses of Chongqing’s dramatic skyline. The staff here actually remembers your name after the first day, which is something you don’t always get at larger luxury hotels.
Location & Getting Around
The location on Zhong Shan San Lu is pretty much perfect if you want to be in the thick of things. You’re walking distance from some of the city’s best hotpot spots (trust me on this), and the Yangtze River views are just a short stroll away. What I really appreciated was how couples seem to gravitate toward this area — there’s something romantic about those misty river mornings that you can catch from nearby viewpoints. The parking situation is refreshingly stress-free too, which honestly surprised me given how chaotic Chongqing traffic can be.
The Room Experience
My room was on the 18th floor, and I’ll be honest — the view alone justified the splurge. The luxury touches are there without being overwhelming: marble bathrooms, those impossibly soft linens, and blackout curtains that actually work (crucial when you’re dealing with jet lag). The air conditioning runs whisper-quiet, which matters more than you’d think in Chongqing’s humid summers. What really impressed me was the attention to detail — fresh orchids replaced every few days, and the minibar stocked with local snacks alongside the usual international options.
Dining & Amenities
Breakfast here is actually worth waking up for, and that’s coming from someone who usually grabs coffee and runs. The buffet spreads across multiple stations — Continental classics, proper Asian options including congee and dim sum, and surprisingly good American-style pancakes. I found myself going back for the local Chongqing noodles every morning because, well, when in Rome. The restaurant staff seemed genuinely excited to explain regional specialties, and they steered me toward dishes I never would have tried otherwise.
Why Guests Love It
There’s something about this place that just works — maybe it’s how the luxury elements feel earned rather than flashy, or how the location puts you right where you want to be without the tourist trap feeling. The service strikes that sweet spot between attentive and unobtrusive, and honestly, after a long day exploring Chongqing’s steep streets and spicy food scene, sinking into those Egyptian cotton sheets feels like pure indulgence. Couples especially seem to appreciate the romantic potential here, and I can see why — there’s an intimacy to the experience despite the hotel’s size.

Reviews of Hilton Chongqing

Location, room, breakfast.
What could be improved: I didn’t like that I was advised through booking.com prior to my stay that the bond is 1000 RMB (500 RMB per night), and I was then charged 2000 RMB when I arrived because I am a foreigner. While I had no issue paying more, the misinformation prior to arrival made us feel like we were treated differently and not trusted. The air conditioning in our room also did not work, and when set to cold the room was still heating.Xikan from Australia – 1 March 2025 (9/10)
Clean rooms, friendly and helpful service, and good breakfast with Chinese and Western options.
What could be improved: Location can be a little further away, but think some guides to people on how to get their way around should help to solve the problem.Sarah from Singapore – 16 December 2024 (9/10)
price is affordable (but its ok if u dont get an upgraded room cuz the view isnt that gorgeous)
there are lots of amenities in the hotel as well… but take note, you got to pay a deposit of around $120 (which will be returned at the end of your stay)
bfast was good (the asian section is tucked in a lil corner, and it is way better than the international one)
the staff was lovely as well… they spoke rly fast chinese though
What could be improved: bfast was expensive tbh, its more than $20 per person…. thats way more expensive than eating at a random store in chongqing !!

Very big and comfortable rooms. Very well equipped. Bed was extremely comfortable. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. One member of staff even helped me to book our high speed train tickets when I could not book it myself. Very much appreciated!

Service was great, room was spacious. Breakfast spread was huge.
What could be improved: The rooms perhaps looks a bit tired but it's not an issueTrieu from Vietnam – 26 September 2024 (9/10)
The location is good, it takes a little time to walk to the subway, but the road is generally clean and pleasant. In Chongqing, taxis are also quite developed, and the traffic here is quite convenient. They clean my room everyday.
What could be improved: The swimming pool is small. After a hard day of hiking in the mountains, I wanted to soak in the water. However, it seems they were also holding swimming lessons there for a few people, making it quite noisy. I was expecting relaxation and a cocktail.
Additionally, I’m not sure if this is common in China, but I was required to wear a swimming cap when I went down to swim. It was the first time I was asked to do that. I’m not an athlete or competing, so I don’t need a specialized swimming cap. It’s never in my travel suitcase.
The pool staff and I had a bit of an attitude with each other, partly due to the language barrier. In the end, nothing happened because I decided to leave and finish my day in the bathtub in my room.
