What struck me right away was how the staff seemed genuinely happy to help, which honestly isn’t always a given when you’re dealing with international hotel chains. Here’s what makes this spot special — Nanbin Road runs along the south bank of the Yangtze River, giving you front-row seats to Chongqing’s incredible skyline. I mean, couples rate this location 9.0 for good reason. The Chaotianmen area is just across the river, so you can easily walk to catch the famous confluence of the Yangtze and Jialing rivers. Room Experience

The room I stayed in was exactly what you’d expect from Holiday Inn Express — clean, functional, and surprisingly comfortable. The beds are actually really good (I’m picky about this), and the air conditioning works like a dream, which you’ll appreciate during Chongqing’s humid summers. What I loved was the river-facing rooms — if you can snag one, do it. Watching the city light up from your window while sipping tea is pretty much perfect. The bathrooms are compact but well-designed, with decent water pressure and all the basics you need.

Morning Fuel

The buffet breakfast deserves a mention because it’s actually quite good for a mid-range hotel. They’ve got the usual Western options — eggs, bacon, toast — but also some solid Chinese choices that change daily. The congee bar was my go-to most mornings, and they usually have some local Chongqing specialties mixed in. The restaurant area gets busy around 8 AM, so if you’re an early riser like me, you’ll have the place mostly to yourself around 7. Coffee’s decent too, though nothing to write home about.

Why Guests Love It

Look, this isn’t the fanciest hotel in Chongqing, but it nails the fundamentals. The location really is outstanding — guests consistently rate it 8.6, and after staying there, I get why. You’re in the heart of everything but still have a peaceful base to return to. The value proposition is solid, especially considering you’re getting reliable international hotel standards in one of China’s most dynamic cities. Parking is available if you’re driving, though honestly, the public transport connections from here are so good that you probably won’t need a car. It’s the kind of place that just works — no surprises, no disappointments, just a comfortable stay in an excellent location.

  Good location, facing the Yangtze river, also pretty near the Changjiahui Shopping Area; easy to drive around, convenient parking place. Room facilities are quite nice.

  The breakfast so good, staff so friendly.
  
  The room is clean & comfortable, you can control light electric by your voice via IoT device. (But if you want to control by English need to download app, because it's just control bu Chinese).

  What could be improved: The location doesn't near MRT or hot travel location (exception Hóng yá dòng). You need to come everywhere by taxi. But the price isn't expensive.
