But you know what? This place completely changed my perspective on what mid-range hotels can offer. The Danish concept of “hygge” — that cozy, comfortable feeling — actually translates perfectly here, and the 9.7 rating suddenly makes total sense once you experience it firsthand.

Location That Actually Works

The hotel sits right in the heart of Yubei District, and I mean right where you want to be in Chongqing. Having three metro stations in the name isn’t just marketing fluff — you’re genuinely steps away from multiple transit options, which is huge in a sprawling city like this. What really struck me was how couples seem to gravitate toward this spot (they rate the location 9.9, apparently), and after spending time in the area, I get it. The Liangjiang New Area has this perfect mix of modern development and authentic local life, plus you can actually breathe here compared to the more congested parts of the city.

The Room Experience

My room was surprisingly spacious for what I paid, with floor-to-ceiling windows that showcase the city’s dramatic skyline. The design leans into that hygge philosophy — warm wood tones, soft lighting, and thoughtful touches that make you want to actually hang out in your space rather than just crash there. I particularly appreciated the blackout curtains (essential when you’re dealing with Chongqing’s neon-bright nights) and the fact that everything just worked. Sometimes the simplest things matter most when you’re traveling.

Breakfast and Practical Perks

The breakfast setup here really impressed me — they’ve got vegetarian, halal, and Asian options in a proper buffet format, which is pretty thoughtful for a hotel at this price point. I mean, finding good halal options in Chongqing isn’t always straightforward, so having it right at your restaurant is genuinely helpful. Plus, there’s free parking available, which might not sound exciting until you’re trying to navigate Chongqing’s traffic with a rental car. Trust me, that’s a bigger deal than you’d think.

  We travel from thailand with 6 peoples and our group have 2 elderly ( 70 years old which never been to china and not easy with Chinese food ) Also we cannot speak Chinese. But would like to experience a beauty of Chongqing scenery. We have been looking for a property that fit us. Until we found this hotel and very impressed with services and care from all staff especially Ms. Rebecca, with her attentive services mind. It mades our trip more smooth and easy. Also hotel is located in a good location and not too crowded. Our parent really appreciate with space of room and services. We would like to recommend this to everyone 😎

  Our stay in Hygge hotel was amazing. We stayed for 5 days, the room was big with an incredible view. The breakfast was so good, you can try chongquin popular noodles or dumpling soop. But if you want some bread or toast you can tell the staff beforehand and they will make it fresh for you. Most of the staff cant speak english but they are always eager to help, and nothing that a translate app cant solve. The area has lots of restaurants and tea shops. There are two subway lines nearby.
  Rebeca (hotel staff) speaks english and helped us during the 5days trip, and she also recommeded a whole itinerary with details of each place. She is amazing ! Special thanks to her.
  If we come back to chongquin, we would stay here again for sure.

  We had the pleasure of staying at HYGGE Hotel from December 15-20, 2024. Initially booked for three nights, we extended our stay by two more nights due to the hotel's exceptional value for money.
  The hotel's location is ideal, with two major MRT stations nearby. Situated on the 7th and 8th floors of a shopping and food complex, we were spoiled for choice with over 50 restaurants within a 1-minute walk. A local spa was also conveniently located just three floors down.
  Our check-in experience was seamless, even at 1:30 am. The front desk staff were welcoming and efficient. We enjoyed the simple yet delicious Chinese breakfast, which offered a variety of options and freshly brewed coffee.
  Our room was comfortable and spacious, with a fantastic view of the local park, courtesy of a complimentary upgrade. Another pleasant surprise was the free laundry service, which was promptly collected and returned.
  However, the true standout was the hotel staff. Every single member of the team was polite, professional, and went above and beyond to ensure our comfort. They even helped us plan a day trip to Chongqing Wulong Karst Geological Park, securing us the best deal and value.
  On our last day, the hotel kindly allowed us to stay in the lobby until midnight, offering complimentary drinks and snacks. Our flight back to Singapore was at 2am so this rest stop really helped us! This level of service is rare, even for a seasoned traveler like myself.
  In conclusion, HYGGE Hotel Chongqing exceeded our expectations in every way. We highly recommend it to anyone seeking exceptional value, comfort, and service.
  
  What could be improved: Nothing! Everything was good! Only wished they had a gym! But there are parks and other activities that will burn those extra calories we put on from the feasting!

  I was very overjoyed, this is the most satisfactory hotel I have stayed in Chongqing. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful, and the room they arranged for me was very spacious. The front desk of the hotel is excellent. They customized a travel guide for me and also recommended authentic specialty cuisine. The subway downstairs is also very convenient for travel. In short, everything is good and suitable for travel and accommodation. “
