Moxy Chongqing Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Moxy Chongqing, you immediately get that this isn’t your typical business hotel. The lobby buzzes with energy — there’s this playful, almost rebellious vibe that Moxy does so well, mixed with sleek modern design. I mean, you’re right in the heart of Chongqing on Bayi Road, which honestly couldn’t be better positioned. The staff greets you with genuine smiles, not the rehearsed kind, and you can tell they actually enjoy working here.
Location That Actually Matters
Here’s the thing about the location — couples rate it 9.5 out of 10, and I totally get why. You’re in Yuzhong District, which is basically Chongqing’s beating heart. Step outside and you’re surrounded by the city’s incredible energy, with the Yangtze River views just a short walk away. What I love is that you can easily explore the famous Hongya Cave or catch the light rail to other districts without dealing with Chongqing’s notorious traffic. The four-star property sits perfectly between the business district and the cultural attractions, so whether you’re here for work or wandering, everything feels accessible.
The Room Experience
The room design is where Moxy really shines — it’s compact but incredibly smart. Everything has a purpose, from the pegboard walls where you can hang your stuff to the platform bed that somehow makes the space feel bigger. The bathroom is surprisingly spacious for a Moxy property, and honestly, the rainfall shower is perfect after a day of climbing Chongqing’s endless stairs. You know what I appreciated? The blackout curtains actually work, which matters when you’re dealing with the city’s neon-bright nights.
Breakfast and Practical Perks
The breakfast setup is solid — they do both continental and buffet options, which gives you flexibility depending on your morning mood. I actually prefer the continental when I’m rushing out to catch the morning river mist, but the buffet has some local touches that are worth trying. The free parking is honestly a game-changer in this part of Chongqing, where finding a spot can be a nightmare. Most hotels in this area charge premium rates for parking, so having it included feels like a real win.
Why Guests Love It
What keeps people coming back is how this place balances fun with functionality. The common areas encourage you to actually hang out — there’s this great lobby bar where you can grab a drink and plan your next day’s adventure. The location score of 9.6 isn’t just a number; it reflects how easy this place makes exploring one of China’s most dynamic cities. You’re not stuck in some sterile business district or tourist bubble — you’re right where Chongqing locals live, work, and play. For the price point and the energy, it’s exactly what modern travelers want from their Chongqing base.

Jack from United Kingdom – 21 December 2024 (8/10)
great location in the city centre close to the Monument. It's a busy commercial area and there are lots of places to eat and shop. A metro station is also a few mins walk away.
– friendly staff.
– our room had a nice view, was clean, and had everything we needed. It was on the smaller side but fine for our stay. It was cleaned daily with bottles of water left for us.
– didn't try the breakfast but we did have some drinks at the bar on the top floor.
– their gym was basic but opened 24hrs. The laundry room was right next to the gym. It had plenty of washers/dryers and were all free to use.
What could be improved: some water leaked out of the shower area when in use but it was a minor inconvenience.Matthew from Singapore – 26 November 2024 (8/10)
