Everything felt intentional, from the lighting that actually works for reading to the bathroom setup that makes sense. The soundproofing is genuinely impressive; I barely heard any aircraft noise, which was my biggest concern booking an airport hotel. The bed was comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been wrestling with the pillows all night, and the air conditioning worked without sounding like a jet engine itself.

The breakfast buffet here is where this place really shows its personality. They’ve got a solid mix of Western and Chinese options, but what I appreciated most was seeing actual vegetarian dishes that weren’t just an afterthought — they clearly put effort into making sure everyone’s covered. The congee was properly made, not the watery stuff you sometimes get, and they had fresh fruit that actually tasted like fruit. I watched them restock items regularly, so nothing sat around getting sad and wilted.

  Even though no one spoke English there, with the help of translation apps, check-in went smoothly, and they helped me book my shuttle bus to the airport for early the next morning and packed a free take away breakfast bag for me as well. The room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. The bed was really comfy! There was loose-leaf green tea in the room, and they do a free supper, but I went to bed early and didn't try it. They have a very small gym with some weights and a rowing machine and a treadmill that I couldn't figure out how to work. But it was enough to do a little workout. The hotel was only 10-12 mins from airport, so for a layover, this place is good.
  
  What could be improved: Booking the free shuttle bus from the airport to the hotel was a mission in ingenuity and determination. No one replied to my several requests through message or email via booking.com prior to my trip, even though I made several attempts in the weeks leading up. I tried calling the hotel number provided by booking.com when I landed in Chongqing, but it wouldn't work on my phone, even with international roaming. Eventually, I decided to go to the reception of the Madison hotel which is based inside the airport and begged the guy at the front desk (with Google Translate app, because he didn't speak English) to help me call my hotel and find out about the shuttle bus for me. He spoke with them and then he gave me the directions of where I needed to go to locate the shuttle bus (4th floor, exit 3) while the bus driver and passengers kindly waited for me to get there… I think they were waiting a while because they were relieved and happy to see me when I finally showed up. So, I would recommend there be some better process for booking the shuttle bus, or maybe just take a taxi if you are willing to do that…. and if you take the taxi, have the address in Chinese ready to show them. Google translate and people willing to help me saved my bacon on this one!
