The Jiangbei District location is actually pretty brilliant, especially if you’re traveling as a couple (apparently other couples agree — they’ve rated the location 8.5 for romantic trips). You’re in Guanyinqiao, which locals know as one of the more vibrant commercial areas, but you’re just far enough from the main chaos to actually get some sleep. What I really appreciated was how easy it was to grab authentic Chongqing hotpot nearby — there are several local spots within walking distance that tourists rarely find. The recent guest rating of 9.4 for location honestly doesn’t surprise me at all.

The Design Experience

Here’s where Chongqing Forest Design B&B really delivers on its name. The rooms have this modern but warm aesthetic — sort of minimalist without feeling cold or sterile. You’ll notice little design touches that feel intentional, like the way natural light flows through the space and how the furniture actually makes sense for the room size. It’s not trying to be boutique-fancy, but there’s definitely thought put into making the space feel calm and functional. The bed was comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up with that hotel-bed backache, which is always a win in my book.

Look, at a three-star place, you’re not expecting room service and marble bathrooms, but the basics are really well done here. The Wi-Fi actually works (crucial when you’re trying to navigate Chongqing’s winding streets), and the bathroom has good water pressure — something that can be hit or miss in this part of the city. The staff speaks enough English to help with directions and restaurant recommendations, though having a translation app handy never hurts. What impressed me was how clean everything felt, and there’s decent soundproofing considering you’re in such a busy district.

  The decor of the apartment was very nice. The view was good. The bed was really comfortable. It was great to have a washing machine. The owner was very chatty and helpful.

  Très grand logement, spacieux avec tout le nécessaire du quotidien, on s’y sent comme à l’hôtel.
  Très belle vue, localisation excellente à proximité des transports et d’un grand centre commercial

  What could be improved: Difficulté à accéder au logement, pas d’accueil par l’hôte mais qui reste à disposition via Wechat
  Parties communes un peu vétustes.
  Nécessité d’avoir Wechat pour acceder au logement ou un numéro de téléphone chinois (mais plus compliqué pour l’hôte qui ne pas nous check in sans wechat)

  Le propriétaire etait tres reactif pour repondre a mes questions.
  Pour sortir et avoir de l'animation, c'est vraiment la localisation ideale.
  Le rapport qualité/prix par rapport a un hotel du coin est excellent.
  
  What could be improved: Le mode de paiement est exclusivemenent WeChat Pay ou Alipay. C'est un peu compliqué pour les non-chinois. De plus, si weChat pay n'est pas associé a un compte bancaire chinois, il ne sera pas possible de recupere le depot de securité.
  L'assenceur est tres lent.
  J'ai trouvé 3 coquerelles en 2 semaines.

  It was very easy to find and the apartment/rooms were super nice! The view was amazing (honestly no need to pay for a Plattform visit because the rooms windows open to Chongqings skyline). Very fun to stay in the 36th floor of a building for the first time. We didn’t even know how close we were to the city center until we made our way back from a trip to the 好吃街 and the huge mall complex next to it and we found it’s only 10 minutes away! The manager was super nice as well and offered many recommendations on what to do in the city.
  
  What could be improved: Taking the elevator is a bit more time consuming than I imagined and walking the stairs a bit more sketchy (probably because no one thinks to use the stairwell in a 40+ floors building)
