First Impressions

Walking into Mcsrh Hotel-Chongqing Jiefangbei Shibati, you immediately sense you’re in something special — this four-star property sits right on the third floor of a building on Jiefang West Road, which honestly took me a moment to find the first time. But once you’re there, the modern lobby feels surprisingly spacious and welcoming. The staff greeted me in both Mandarin and English, which was reassuring since my Chinese is, well, pretty limited.

Location & Neighborhood

The location is genuinely fantastic — you’re literally in the heart of Chongqing‘s Yuzhong District, walking distance from Jiefangbei (Liberation Monument), which is basically the Times Square of this sprawling mountain city. I mean, couples rate the location 8.2 out of 10, and I can see why. You can walk to the pedestrian shopping area in about five minutes, and there’s this incredible mix of street food vendors and upscale malls all around you. The famous Hongya Cave is close enough that you’ll probably end up there for photos — it’s one of those Instagram-worthy spots that actually lives up to the hype.

The Room Experience

My room was compact but thoughtfully designed, which seems to be the standard for hotels in this part of the city where every square meter counts. The bed was comfortable enough for a good night’s sleep after long days exploring the city’s hills and stairs (and trust me, there are a lot of stairs in Chongqing). What I appreciated most was the attention to cleanliness and the modern amenities — the WiFi was reliable, the air conditioning worked perfectly, and the bathroom had a proper shower with good water pressure.

Dining & Amenities

While the hotel doesn’t have its own restaurant, you honestly don’t need one when you’re surrounded by some of the best Sichuan cuisine in the world. The front desk staff gave me excellent recommendations for nearby hotpot places, and there’s a convenience store right downstairs for water and snacks. The hotel does provide basic amenities like toiletries and towels that are refreshed daily, and they have a small business center if you need to print boarding passes or maps.

What really sets this place apart is how it balances affordability with a prime location — you’re getting that coveted Jiefangbei address without paying five-star prices. The 8.7 guest rating speaks for itself, and after staying here, I understand why. It’s not trying to be something it’s not; instead, it delivers exactly what most travelers actually need: a clean, comfortable base in an unbeatable location. You’ll spend most of your time exploring the city anyway, so having a reliable, well-positioned place to return to each night is exactly what you want. Plus, the value for money is hard to beat in this part of the city.

  The location is nice, close to Shibati without the hustle and bustle of crowds
  
  We could easily hail a taxi in the front or order a didi to pick us up
  
  The staff at the front desk are extremely friendly and eager to give suggestions on where to eat in Chongqing
  
  Any issue we had with the room, they were quick to come in and fix the issue
  
  The lobby area has a very chill vibe, and there's a microwave there that you can use
  
  The beds were comfortable, and there were power outlets right above the bedside table
  
  We had a view of the Yangtze river as well as a bridge, which was very relaxing
  
  There's many places to eat just down the road, perfect for breakfast or late dinners
  
  Overall, I enjoyed my stay here and would come back if travelling with friends
  
  What could be improved: These aren't dislikes, just comments:
  
  The entrance to the hotel requires walking to the 2nd floor, before having the option to take the lift or another set of stairs before reaching the lobby on the 3rd floor
  It might be a bit rough if you're older or have a lot of luggage
  
  Not sure if it was just our luck with taxi drivers in the area, but for some reason a good few of the ones we caught weren't sure of the location despite giving the exact address
  Consider grabbing a didi or telling the driver to drop you off at the intersection of Jiefang shi (west) road and Jiefang dong (south) road when heading back to the hotel

  Good location, close to shops and restaurants. The room was spacious and comfortable, great facilities including free laundry room with detergent sachets. The staff were fantastic, they allowed us to check in early upon request and were quick to help us with anything throughout our stay via WeChat. We were also able to get a late check out for no additional cost which was very helpful for us. We even got a leaving gift upon checkout which was a nice touch – 10/10!
